NOTES ON NOTATION ----------------- In the tables that follow, the following column headings will be used: Lvl: Minimum level required to be able to learn the spell or prayer. SP: Spell Points (aka mana) required to cast the spell or prayer. %fail: Base chance of failure for the spell or prayer. Other Notes ----------- The Knight classes are meant to be very tough fighters with just a little bit of magic. They are horrible at stealth and do not like to run away from a battle. There may eventually get to be a knight class for each spell realm. The chaos warrior is the knight class of the chance realm, it isn't called a knight because the chance realm is chaotic and knights aren't chaotic. The spells are arranged so that there isn't any class which uses all nine book in its magic realm. No one should have to lug around nine books to have access to all their spells. Much of the Nature and Black magic realms take a lot of influence from OAngband, but know that just because a spell has the same name as one in OAngband, it doesn't mean the effect is quite the same. Check the spell descriptions by browsing the book in-game. *** Realm #1: Wizardry *** The War Mage gets 50% more mana than a normal spellcaster with the same INT, so most non-combat spells cost significantly more mana for him than for the Wizard. The War Mage is also considered to be evil-aligned (like the necromancer), so a wielding or wearing good-aligned item will hinder his spellcasting. The Red Knight class is planned to be added later. Luck has more effect on chance magic than it does for any other magic. The Chaos Warrior is the knight class for the Chance realm, and he starts out with the very last book "The Spreading of Chaos." The Alchemy realm is pretty evenly shared by the Alchemist, the Archer, and the Thief. They each have a book to themselves. The Chemical Combat book has been almost completely redone since DJA 1.0.99. One of the new spells, 'mimmic wand', is a two-part spell. One part which prepares the spell (very low mana & fail%), and one part which activates it. When you learn one part of the spell, you automatically learn the other also.
